DX2261 Multiformat HD/SD Transcoder Codec is the latest state-of-the-art, Best-of-Class in Quality, single chip HD/SD transcoder/codec coprocessor. It is designed to have easy interface with other main System-on-a-Chip solution. DX2261 can provide multi-format transcoding/encoding/decoding capabilities to Digital TV, BD Player /Recorder and DVB-T/S/C, ARIB, ATSC Receivers applications
The DX2261 Codec supports decoding of up to two High Definition (1080i) H.264 or MPEG-2 streams, or one High Definition (1080p/60) H.264 or MPEG-2 stream. The DX2261 Multiformat HD/SD Transcoder Codec can encode up to two Standard Definition H.264 or MPEG-2 streams. For High Definition encoding, the DX2261 Codec can encode one (1080i) H.264 or MPEG-2 stream. The DX2261 Codec supports both VBR and CBR rate control for encoding. For transcoding, the DX2261 Codec supports High Definition (MPEG-2 or VC-1 or H.264) to High Definition (H.264 or MPEG-2) real-time or non real-time transcoding. The architecture of the DX2261 Codec supports faster than real-time transcoding. It provides best of class video quality for transcoding leveraging advanced H.264 High/Main Profile interlaced tools like MBAFF.
For decoding, the DX2261 Codec can take a single transport stream from the Transport Stream port or PCI/Host interface and output video in CCIR-656 (8/10 bit) or SMPTE-274/260M (16/20 bit) formats. In dual stream decode mode, the DX2261 Codec can take up to two streams from the Transport Stream port or PCI/Host interface and output video through two CCIR-656 interfaces. For Dual HD decode mode, the two CCIR-656 interfaces can be clocked at 148.5 MHz to output two independent 1080i video signals. Audio is output through the I2S port.
For encoding, DX2261 Codec takes a video input in CCIR656 (8/10 bit) or SMPTE-274 (16/20 bit) formats and performs encoding. The encoded transport stream can be output to the PCI/Host interface or Transport Stream port. For transcoding, the transport source stream can be sent to the DX2261 Codec through the PCI/Host interface and the transcoded bit-stream steam can be send back to the Host System-on-a-Chip using the PCI/Host interface.
The DX2261 Codec receives commands through PCI /Host bus interface. The DX2261 Codec is a PCI /Host bus slave to the Host Main SoC. The DX2261 Codec has a rich list of ciphers that encryption /decryption of AV streams for content protection.
